How long does the certification process take?
Typically 5 days, as fast as 3 days. The exact timeline depends on how quickly you can complete the self-assessment questionnaire and any remediation required.
What's the difference between CE and CE+?
Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment. Cyber Essentials Plus includes independent technical verification: we actually test your systems to verify your controls are working. CE+ is the higher standard that provides greater assurance.
Do I need technical expertise?
No. We guide you through every step of the process. If you don't have in-house IT support, we can help you understand and implement the required controls.
What happens if we don't pass first time?
Honestly? It's rare, but it happens, and it's not a big deal. If something needs fixing, we'll tell you exactly what and walk you through how to sort it. No extra charge, no judgement. We're here to get you certified, not catch you out.
Do we get both Cyber Essentials and CE Plus?
Yes, the price covers both. You'll get your Cyber Essentials certificate first, then we do the technical assessment for CE Plus straight after. Two certificates, one process, one price.
How long does the certificate last?
12 months. We'll give you a heads up before it expires so you're not scrambling at the last minute. Most of our clients renew with us; the process is quicker second time round because we already know your setup.
What if we're not ready to start right now?
No problem. Use the "Not Ready Yet?" form above to register your interest. We'll check in when you're ready (could be next month, could be Q3). Your price is locked until your current certificate expires.
Can we pay by invoice instead of card?
Absolutely. Pick "Bank Transfer" when you fill in the form and Daniel will send over an invoice. 30-day terms, no fuss. Most businesses prefer this for their bookkeeping.
Does our IT provider need to be involved?
Depends on your setup. If you manage your own laptops and Microsoft 365, probably not. If you've got a managed IT provider handling your firewall and security, we might need a quick call with them. Either way, we'll coordinate; you don't need to play middleman.
Is the cyber insurance included?
Yes, £25,000 cyber liability cover comes automatically with your CE+ certificate. It's provided through the scheme, not us, so there's no extra paperwork. Nice bonus on top of the certification itself.
