Carbon Reduction Plan
NetSecGroup publishes this Carbon Reduction Plan in the spirit of Procurement Policy Note 06/21. We are below the statutory turnover threshold that mandates publication for central government contracts, but we consider public, measurable climate commitments to be the appropriate standard for any business operating in the UK public sector supply chain.
Commitment to net zero
NetSecGroup commits to aligning its emissions trajectory with the United Kingdom's legally binding net zero target for 2050, as set out in the Climate Change Act 2008 (as amended).
Baseline year
2026 is our baseline reporting year. Baseline emissions measurement is in progress and will be reported in full in our 2026 annual review. Our footprint is expected to be small in absolute terms given the scale and nature of the business, and entirely concentrated in Scope 2 (purchased electricity) and Scope 3 (business travel, digital infrastructure, and purchased goods and services).
Scope coverage
Our Carbon Reduction Plan measures against the following GHG Protocol scopes:
- Scope 1: direct emissions from owned sources (not expected to apply, as we do not own fleet or operate combustion equipment)
- Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased electricity and heat at business premises
- Scope 3, Category 1: purchased goods and services
- Scope 3, Category 4: upstream transportation and distribution
- Scope 3, Category 5: waste generated in operations
- Scope 3, Category 6: business travel
- Scope 3, Category 7: employee commuting (where applicable)
- Scope 3, Category 9: downstream transportation and distribution (limited; most services are delivered remotely)
Reduction measures
The following measures are in place or under implementation to reduce emissions from the baseline year:
- Remote-first working model, with business travel used selectively for high-value client engagement
- Electricity sourced from renewable tariffs where contractually available
- Cloud providers selected in preference for those with published carbon-neutrality or net-zero commitments (including providers aligned with the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact)
- Hardware procurement prefers refurbished and energy-efficient equipment; end-of-life disposal through registered WEEE recyclers
- Digital-first document handling to minimise printed materials
- Supplier engagement favours those with published emissions commitments on an all-else-equal basis
