Terms governing Net Sec Group's free vulnerability scan and network scan assessments
2.1 Single Target Only. Each Free Assessment is limited to a single Target (one device, one IP address, or one URL per request). Requests covering multiple targets will require a paid engagement.
2.2 Critical Findings Only. The Free Assessment will identify critical and high-severity findings only. It is not a comprehensive security assessment and may not detect medium, low, or informational-severity vulnerabilities.
2.3 No Full Scan Results. The Client will receive a summary Report only. Raw scan data, detailed technical output, and full vulnerability listings are not included in the Free Assessment.
2.4 One-Time Assessment. The Free Assessment constitutes a single engagement. It does not create an ongoing relationship or entitle the Client to additional assessments.
2.5 No Re-Scan Rights. The Client is not entitled to follow-up or re-scanning without entering into a paid engagement with the Service Provider.
The Free Assessment is provided on an "as-is" basis and represents a point-in-time snapshot of the Target's security posture. The Service Provider makes no guarantee that all vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, or security weaknesses will be identified. The absence of findings does not indicate that the Target is secure.
The Report and any findings are provided for informational purposes only. They do not constitute professional security advice, a remediation plan, or a compliance assessment. The Client is solely responsible for all decisions made in response to the Report, including any remediation actions taken or not taken.
The Free Assessment is provided without any service level agreement (SLA). There are no guaranteed response times, delivery timescales, or follow-up support obligations. The Service Provider will endeavour to complete the assessment in a reasonable timeframe but makes no commitments as to timing.
The Service Provider reserves the right to decline any Free Assessment request at its sole discretion and without providing a reason. No obligation to perform the Free Assessment arises until the Service Provider has expressly confirmed acceptance of the request.
IMPORTANT: Legal Authorisation Required
By submitting a Free Assessment request, the Client confirms and warrants that:
The Client confirms that the Target does not include any systems, networks, or infrastructure belonging to third parties for which the Client does not have explicit written authorisation to test. The Service Provider shall not be liable for any consequences arising from the Client's failure to obtain proper authorisation.
THE CLIENT'S ATTENTION IS PARTICULARLY DRAWN TO THIS CLAUSE.
The Free Assessment is provided at no charge. Accordingly, the Service Provider's total aggregate liability under or in connection with the Free Assessment, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall be limited to £0 (zero pounds sterling).
Nothing in these terms shall limit or exclude liability for:
The Client shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Service Provider, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
All intellectual property rights (including copyright, database rights, and any other rights) in the Report, methodologies, tools, and any other output produced during the Free Assessment shall remain the property of the Service Provider.
The Client is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Report for the Client's own internal security improvement purposes only.
The Report is provided solely for the Client's internal security improvement. The Client shall not:
Both parties agree to keep confidential any information obtained during the Free Assessment. Confidential information does not include information that is:
The Service Provider will retain scan data and the Report for a maximum period of 90 days from the date of the assessment. After this period, all data will be securely deleted.
The Client may request early deletion of their data at any time by contacting the Service Provider at [email protected].
The Service Provider processes personal data collected during the Free Assessment on the basis of legitimate interest (the provision of the requested security assessment service).
All personal data is processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. For full details of how we handle personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
Data subjects have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port their personal data. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].
The findings of the Free Assessment are valid only at the point in time at which the assessment was conducted. Security postures change continuously; the Report should not be relied upon as reflecting the current state of the Target after the date of the assessment.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed from these terms without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
